Richard Leon Stice born November 23, 1945, in Haskell Texas, passed away on August the 4th leaving behind a legacy of love & laughter. Known by all as an energetic character with his share of perseverance and grit.
Leon was a man who knew how to enjoy life! He loved being out on the open road, whether behind the wheel or on his favorite Harley.
Spending time with his family and friends, storytelling, dancing, joking around, games and classic country music were his best times. He truly loved the outdoors, camping out, fishing, hunting, and hard work suited him well. With callused hands, Leon was still mowing & weed-eating his yard just days before his passing.
He was married for 48 years to the love of his life, Betty Soules-Stice. Their marriage was filled with precious family memories, outdoor adventures, love, and laughter. Leon was a great provider for his wife and kids.
He was an accomplished welder, carpenter, mechanic, rancher, business owner & worked in the oilfields for many years. Leon was sharp as a tack, full of wisdom, and did whatever it took to provide for his family.
Leon is survived by his son Ricky, and daughters Teresa (Jay) and Valerie (David). His grandchildren Ashley, Tiffiiny, Charles, Elizabeth, his great-grandchildren & many relatives.
Known for his ornery pranks and quick wit, Leon had a way of making everyone feel at home. His door was always open, and he never missed a chance to cook up something delicious, especially when it came to BBQ. Leon was an extremely generous man always cooking for everyone, lending a hand, or reaching in the pocket of his overalls for anyone who asked.
Leon’s adventurous spirit, love for his family, and no-nonsense approach to life will be remembered by all who knew him. He didn’t leave behind riches as the world would define them. He left behind a well-worn pair of boots and a trail of memories a country mile long.
Those who knew him will carry his stories, pranks, and laughter into their family circles with much love in their hearts forever.
Papa aka “OOF” has officially peeled out!
The family would like to thank Tina Luck and Carrie Briggs for their medical assistance and love.
