Library Story Time Winter Session

Posted

Beginning Tuesday, January 14, the County Library will offer Preschool Story Time programs for ages 3-5. The weekly programs will be from 11 - 11:45 am on Tuesdays from January 14 until March 4. These programs consist of storytelling, flannel board stories, crafts, and lots of books and are provided free of charge by Reagan County Library.
This is also a great opportunity for parents to check out books to read to their children. Reading to a preschooler is the first step in early literacy. By being read to the child begins to see the relationship between those marks on the book page and the words being spoken by the person reading to them, the first step in learning to read. Reading a variety of books to a child expands their vocabulary, one of the predictors of future reading levels once he or she begins to learn to read. Children also enjoy hearing the same book over and over because they can predict what is going to happen next.
