The Reagan County Owls sit atop District 7-2A as district play passed the mid-point. The Owls, ranked #4 in the State for 2A, traveled to Sterling City on Friday and returned home with a 69-46 win. They followed that win up with another district victory on Tuesday against Sonora by a 76-53 margin.

Reagan County Elementary School’s UIL team traveled to Forsan for the UIL District 7-2A North Zone Academic Meet. RCES finished in 2nd place overall with 558 points. Forsan won the event with 798.5 points.

Reagan County’s oil industry saw a healthy year in 2023 according to information gathered on oil production and drilling permits from the Texas Railroad Commission. The boom in the oil industry is highlighted by the single biggest jump in drilling permits over a one year period since 2010.

Reagan County ISD’s bond projects are rolling right along this summer. The $70 million bond passed in November, and several of the projects funded by the bond have already been completed. The district has installed keyed access on all doors at the elementary campus.

Charles Graves, 41 of Big Lake, was arrested and charged with Deadly Conduct - Discharge of a Firearm after an incident early last Thursday morning.
