Everyone is encouraged to come out this Saturday to help clean up Big Lake.

The ‘Smash That Trash’ event is sponsored by the Big Lake Economic Development in an effort to promote community pride.

A registration table will be set up at 8 a.m. this Saturday on the front sidewalk of the Reagan County Courthouse.

Supplies will be provided for anyone who signs up. Provided supplies include: Trash Bags (donated by City of Big Lake) and a Neon T-Shirts (Donated by the EDC).

People and groups may clean up their own areas of Big Lake (such as personal property or business location), or they can receive an assigned location (if needed) from the event organizers once they register.

Free breakfast burritos and a drink will be given to the first 100 participants Saturday morning.

A Trash Can Piñata Smash will be held at the end of the event at Noon on the Courthouse lawn.

Anyone who returns a trash bag full of trash will earn a swing at the Piñata full of candy and goodies.

It should be noted, full trash bags must be returned to the parking lot behind Lowe’s Grocery Store between the hours of 8 a.m. and Noon on Saturday.

The City of Big Lake will have an employee on site to pick up and gather the bags of trash.

The event is a great way for individuals, businesses or anyone needing community service hours to help keep Big Lake the wonderful place it is to live.
