Julia Herrera, 59 of Big Lake, was arrested on May 8 and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child – a First Degree Felony.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the victim gave a forensic interview about an incident that happened between February 1 and March 31 of 2015.

The victim, who was younger than 14 years old, reported that Herrera penetrated her sexual organs with her fingers.

The affidavit also shows the victim reported that Herrera made contact with the victims sexual organ with her mouth.

The arrest warrant affidavit also shows the offense only happened one time with Herrera threatening the victim with harming her mother if she told anyone.

The affidavit was signed on April 30, 2019 with Herrera being arrested on May 8.

First Degree Felonies carry with them a punishment of five to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.00.

As with all criminal cases, Herrera is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
