  • Big Lake Woman Charged with 2nd Degree Felony Following Alleged Family Violence Incident

    The Reagan County Sheriff's department arrested Freida Zuberbueler, 51 of Big Lake, on Thursday and charged her with Aggravated Assault causing Serious Bodily Injury, a 2nd Degree Felony. Sheriff Jeff Garner confirmed Friday morning that his department responded to a call at Reagan Memorial Hospital early on Thursday morning about a potential spousal abuse charge. That call came from hospital staff.

    Big Lake’s Michael Foster, 53, was arrested Tuesday and charged with Credit Card/Debit Card Abuse, a State Jail Felony. Following his arrest, Foster was also charged with Retaliation, a 3rd Degree Felony.

    The Reagan County Boys Powerlifting Team looks as solid as ever posting their third Regional Championship in as many years two weekends ago. The team, anchored by Senior David Carrasco and Junior Tristan Ortiz, dominated the Regional Meet in Sundown with two first place finishes, a second and a fourth to claim the team title over Hawley.

  • Big Lake Man Evades Arrest, Picks Up Extra Charge

    Gustavo Hernandez was a fugitive from justice in Reagan County for less than 24 hours before he was arrested at a home on California Avenue.
    Reagan County Chief Deputy Destin Wilha reported Hernandez as a fugitive on Monday after he was able to successfully evade arrest at the Pilot Truck Stop in Big Lake.
    Wilha said deputies attempted to arrest Hernandez on two Class C JP warrants after an officer saw his vehicle at the gas pumps at Pilot.

    Reagan County Elementary is proud to announce the February people of the month.  This month’s focus was on students showing effort and improvement.  These students are willing to work as hard as necessary until their task is accomplished. They possess the stick-to-itiveness it takes to finish assignments that are challenging to them. This hard working attitude has helped them overcome some of the areas in which they may have been struggling.
  • 37th RCHS Invitational Tennis Tournament

    The Reagan County Tennis team hosted the 37th Annual RCHS Invitational Tennis Tournament held March 15th and 16th.
    The Junior Varsity was in action on Thursday as the Owls took top honors by winning the Team championship.
    The Owls were led by the boys doubles team of Isaac DeLaCruz /Giovani Botello who defeated their teammates Jaden Gonzales/Ricardo Rodriguez 8-2 for the championship.

    Reagan County Sheriff Jeff Garner stood before the Reagan County ISD Board of Trustees Monday evening to lay out his vision of school safety.

    Garner said he has received numerous calls recently from concerned citizens in the wake of school shootings across the country.

    “Most of those people, along with the school board members I’ve talked one on one with, are in agreement that we should do more by way of providing security for our schools,” Garner said.
