Linda Lou Whitten, 69, of Big Lake, went home to be with her parents and older brother on December 29, 2017.

She was born in Sonora on February 18, 1948 to Edward “Dub” and Barbara “Jean” Wall. She attended Sonora HS. On August 9, 1973, she married John Thomas Whitten of Eldorado. Linda was a housewife who loved to read and crochet any chance she had. She was a loving wife, mom, and Mawmaw to those around her. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Big Lake.

She is survived by her husband, John; daughter –  Charlene Wharton of Big Lake; two sons –  Milton (Skeeter) Thorp and wife Amanda of Big Lake, and Billy Thurman of Abilene; five grandchildren – Robert Wharton and wife Cortni of Midland, Brittany Wharton of Slaton, Ian Thorp of Alva, Oklahoma, Myranda Thorp of Alva, Oklahoma, and Katelynn Thorp of Big Lake; two great-grandchildren – Derek and Ali.

Also surviving are her siblings – Betty Stallard and family of Fort Stockton, June Carter and family of Oklahoma, Debbie Stimac and family of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Keith Wall and wife Kathleen of San Antonio.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dub and Jean Wall, and her brother, Danny David Wall.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, January 2nd at Bethel Baptist Church in Big Lake. Her wish was to be cremated and her ashes will be placed in the family plot in Sonora, TX on January 27th, 2018 – the anniversary of her mother’s birthday.
